Courier Mail Regarding Unit Owners

Apartments

I was reading an article in today’s Courier Mail regarding Unit owners groups who have raised their concerns in Parliament this week regarding proposed changes to body corporate legislation.

Current legislation in Queensland is the weighted approach and it has been proposed to move to a model based upon equality.  Now if this new legislation does come into play people with larger lot holdings will actually end up paying less with the costs being spread across the board to smaller unit owners.

How can this approach possibly be fair?  Surely if the person can afford the penthouse they can afford the associated costs not to mention should the building burn down who would get the larger payout from the Insurance Company do you think?

What do you think?
